Naturalization (N-400)

Naturalization is the process of becoming a U.S. citizen. We guide clients through it from the first consultation through the interview and beyond.

Schedule a Consultation Free 15-minute introductory consultation; extended consultations available.

What Naturalization Is

Naturalization is how a lawful permanent resident becomes a United States citizen. It’s a significant milestone — the end of one process and, in many ways, the start of a new relationship with this country. We work with individual applicants, spouses of U.S. citizens, and current or former members of the military, and we know the process can look a little different depending on your situation. If you’re not sure how it applies to you, that’s exactly what a consultation is for.

How We Help

  1. We start with a consultation. We talk through your background and your situation so we understand what the process will involve for you specifically.
  2. We put things in writing. If you decide to move forward, we send an engagement agreement so the scope of our work is clear from the start.
  3. We gather what we need from you. We send a questionnaire built for this case type, and we explain why each piece of information and each supporting document matters — not just a list to check off.
  4. We prepare and review your case. Once we have what we need, we prepare your application. Nothing goes out of this office without a careful review, and we walk you through everything before it’s signed and filed.
  5. We file and keep you posted. After filing, we track your case and send you regular updates — even during the stretches when there’s no news yet, because we think you deserve to know where things stand.
  6. We handle government requests. If the government asks for additional evidence or information, we manage that response and keep you informed throughout.
  7. We prepare you for what comes next. When it’s time for a biometrics appointment or an interview, we make sure you know what to expect and how to get ready.

What to Expect Working With Us

We understand that becoming a citizen matters to you and your family, and that the process can feel intimidating — especially if this is your first time working with an attorney or if English isn’t your first language. We explain each step in plain terms, tell you what’s coming before it happens, and are glad to work with you in Spanish if that’s more comfortable. You’ll hear from us regularly, even when there’s nothing new to report, because we think you deserve to know where things stand.

Frequently asked questions

Do you handle naturalization cases for military service members and veterans, and for spouses of U.S. citizens, or only the general process?

We work with individual applicants, spouses of U.S. citizens, and current or former members of the military. Each situation is a little different, and we tailor our approach accordingly — bring your specific situation to a consultation and we’ll walk you through how we can help.

What does your office need from me to get started?

After your consultation, if you decide to move forward, we’ll send you a questionnaire and a checklist of supporting documents, and we explain why each item is needed so the process makes sense — not just a list to check off.

Will I know what’s going on with my case while it’s pending?

Yes. We check in on pending cases regularly and send you updates on a set schedule, even if there’s nothing new to report yet — we don’t believe in leaving clients wondering.
