Certificate / Derived Citizenship (N-600)

If you may have already become a U.S. citizen through a parent — and you just need the paperwork to prove it — this is that process.

Schedule a Consultation Free 15-minute introductory consultation; extended consultations available.

What This Is

Some people become U.S. citizens automatically, without ever filing a naturalization application — often through a parent’s citizenship. A certificate of citizenship is the official document that proves it. We help clients look at their family’s immigration history, figure out whether this may apply to them, and, if so, guide them through obtaining that proof.

How We Help

As with any case we take on, we start with a consultation to understand your family’s immigration history and your situation. If we move forward together, we put our engagement agreement in writing, gather the documentation your case will need, and prepare and file your application. We respond to any requests the government makes for additional evidence, and we keep you updated throughout — including letting you know when there simply isn’t anything new to report yet.

What to Expect Working With Us

These cases often involve piecing together family history and older documents, which can feel like a lot to gather. We’ll tell you plainly what we need and why it matters, and we’re available to answer your questions in English and Spanish as we work through it together.

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer consultations in Spanish for these cases?

Yes — we’re glad to meet with you in Spanish or English, whichever is more comfortable.

How do I know if I should start here, or with naturalization?

That’s a great question for an initial consultation. Tell us about your and your family’s situation, and we’ll help point you in the right direction before any work begins.

Flat-fee representation available for most matters. [PLACEHOLDER — awaiting Danja]
